CARBON FOOTPRINT is a measurement of the impact of human activities have on environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide. These gases are produced by the burning fossil fuels for our everyday living. For example heating & electricity. Its purpose is for individuals, businesses and nation to understand their personal carbon dioxide contribution.
A carbon footprint is made up of sum of two parts, the primary footprint and the secondary footprint.
PRIMARY FOOTPRINT
Is a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels including domestic energy consumption and transportation.(Car,plane and etc)We have 'direct' control of these.
SECONDARY FOOTPRINT
Is a measure of indirect emissions of CO2 from the whole life cycle of products we use, those associated with their manufacturer and eventual breakdown. To put it very simply, the more we buy the more emission will be caused on our behalf.

10 STEPS TO SHRINK YOUR OFFICE FOOT PRINT
The Website "TheGreenOffice.com", an online retailer specialising in GREEN office products, make available a free Office Footprint Calculator to gauge what kind of effect you and your co workers are having on environment and identify how to make improvement
2.Save Trees
An average office worker uses 10,000 sheet of copy paper a year.Refrain from printing when you can,use both side of the sheet and recycle so that the recycling industry will have raw material
3.Power Down
Artificial lighting accountsfor almost half of all electricity use.Turn off the lights that are not being used.Better yet, install motion sensors that do it automatically when no one is in the room. Also shut down computers overnight, and set them to go into sleep mode when sitting indle.
4.Minimize E Waste
Upgrade of repair the office computers instead of junking them.So called "E Waste" - toxin leaching computers and electronics- is a huge problem all over the world now.
5.Telecommute
Encourage workers to work at home when possible,to save car trips. For those who must come to the office, encourage bicycling if it is safe. Also some firms subsdies employee public transit cost to discourage driving. And online video tolls like Skype can help cut down on business trips
6.Clean Greener
Make sure your cleaning services uses non toxic, green products,if they don’t,offer to supply them - so that you can breath easy when you are trying to get your own work done
7.Eco Renovate
If you need to renovate or upgrade anything, greenest option abound including non toxic paints, natural fibre carpeting, energy efficient windows and energy star rated office equipment
8.Drink boiled tap water
Having big jugs of water lugged in and out every week by the water bottle company is not only unneccesary but a big waste of energy.Put filters on the kitchen spouts or buy fitered water pitchers and keep them in the office fridge
9.Green-screen your supplier
Ask your vendors how they are greening their operations.Just posing them the questions can start them thinking, the precursor to action.Demand recycled paper and soy based inks from your printers and buy only green office supplies
10.Put your heads together
Form a committee to organise and monitor your office green practices, to ensure that your office green goals don’t fall away if one or two committed employees move on and to reinforce the importance of doing the right thing across the organisation - Earthtalk/E The Environment Magazine

10 STEPS TO 'GREEN' YOUR COMPUTERS
Give your system a once over power meter that display how much energy your are actually using. Then use the handy calculator to compate your computer energy usage, waltage and projected saving with more efficient machine.
2.DOWNSIZE
Switch to a laptop when you don’t need the further capabilities of a desktop.Laptops typically consume half the power of desktops and are ideal to extended stays at airports or local cafĂ©.If all you need is Internet and word processing, netbooks are both sensible and trendy
3.UPGRADE
Computer energy conservation should be priority No ! When shopiing for a new machine, peripherals or hardware. If all computers in the country were energy Star cerfified,it would offset the greenhouse gas emissions of nearly two millon cars. When you ditch the old computer and sna a new one, don't forget to recycle, reduce & reuse
4.DITCH THE SCREEN SAVER
Screen savers make for pretty pictures but modern monitors actually consume more energy while running them.
5.TURN OF THE LIGHTS
Turn down your monitors brightness setting. The 'brightest' setting on a monitor consumes twice the power of the dimmest
6.SHUT OFF PERIPHERAL
When not in use, shut down such extras as printers, speakers and scanners
7.FIGHT PHANTOM POWER
It almost goes without saying, but always use a power strip. They save space and energy.Try and plug all your electronics into one strip and switch it off when you are finished. If you want to avoid rebooting, put processors on a separate strip
8.SLEEP ON IT
Use computer and monitor sleep modes to save around RM175 a year in energy costs per annum.Set your monitor and hard drives to turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity and you'll reduce waste by almost 40%
9.WIPE EXTRA WINDOW
Close rarely used application to save energy and processing power. You'd be surprise what a drain Photoshop,FireFox,Word,GarageBand,Solitaire,Outlook and Skype put on your system when running all at once
10.CREATE ENERGY SAVING SYSTEM
Set up multipower scheme to address different usage models. For example, arrange a power scheme to iTunes that immediatelt shuts off other programmes and monitors without putting your system into standby mode
Stay tune for more 'Green' tips folks.....

DID YOU KNOW THAT :
A)1 recycled tin can would save enough energy to power a television for 3 hours
B)1 recycled glass bottle would save enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes.
C)1 recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy to power a 60 watt light bulb for 3 hours
D) 70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw material
SOME INTERESTING FACTS :
A) Up to 60% rubbish thats end up in dustbin could be recycled
B) The unreleased energy contained in the average dustbin each year could power a television for 5,000 hours
C) The largest lake in Britain could be filled with rubbish from UK in 8 months.I wonder how much rubbish that Malaysia produces :-P
D) On average 16% of money you spend on a product pays for the packaging which ultimately end up as RUBBISH !
E) As mush as 50% of waste in the average dustbin could be composted
F) Up to 80% of a vehicle can be recycled
G) 9 out of 10 people would recycle more if it were made easier
ALUMINIUM
A) 24 million tonnes of aluminium is produced annually,51,000 tonnes of which end up as packaging in Uk.I wonder what the range in Malaysia ?
B) If all cans in UK were recycled, we would need 14 million fewer dustbins.
C) Euro 36 million worth of aluminium is thrown away each year.
D) Aluminium cans can be recycled and ready to be used in 6 weeks.

GREEN intro
HI Folks,
The main purpose of this blog to make everyone understand that GOD recites in them.We are all equal and we have the potential to create great impact in the society and that will only happen if you understand WHO YOU REALLY ARE and WHAT IS YOUR CALLING.
Mine is 'GO GREEN'....What is yours ?
There is a source that governs all of us.We call it in different names based on our culture, our believe system and also the knowledge that is imparted us.The bottom line is we are all ONE, we are all EQUAL and we are all created by the SAME SOURCE
'LIFE' is pretty much the journey of understanding GOD within us.It is a process of discovery within you where the experience brings you ahead vocabulary, intellect and intelligence. Its process of 'letting GO', its a process of 'Allowing', its the process of 'Discovery',its a process of 'Knowing the unknown' and it is FOR YOU and ONLY YOU to "EXPERIENCE"
I'm sharing mine and I'm looking forward hear from you
