WHAT IS CARBON FOOTPRINT

CARBON FOOTPRINT is a measurement of the impact of human activities have on environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide. These gases are produced by the burning fossil fuels for our everyday living. For example heating & electricity. Its purpose is for individuals, businesses and nation to understand their personal carbon dioxide contribution.

A carbon footprint is made up of sum of two parts, the primary footprint and the secondary footprint.

PRIMARY FOOTPRINT
Is a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels including domestic energy consumption and transportation.(Car,plane and etc)We have 'direct' control of these.

SECONDARY FOOTPRINT
Is a measure of indirect emissions of CO2 from the whole life cycle of products we use, those associated with their manufacturer and eventual breakdown. To put it very simply, the more we buy the more emission will be caused on our behalf.
